In 1986 the club was known as PPC of Saint Augustine (Primarily Police and Corrections). PPC of St. Augustine held all of it's matches at the St. Augustine Technical Center / Criminal Justice Academy. In 1987, PPC of St. Augustine became the first law enforcement agency to affiliate themselves with the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA). (Front Sight - March/April 1987). In 1989, PPC of St. Augustine changed its name to its current title "St. Augustine Practical Shooting Association". SAPSA formally became a member of the USPSA by becoming the 13th USPSA club in Florida in this same year. SAPSA continued using the St. Augustine Technical Center to hold its matches until fall of 1997. This is when the club, under the guidance of Jim Tice, moved to it's current location of the Fraternal Order of Police lodge/range #113. Currently, SAPSA is under the guidance of Steve Breckenridge. Our monthly matches provide five courses of fire with a round count of approximately 150. Our range is centrally located between Daytona Beach and Jacksonville, Florida; just a jump, skip, and a hop off of Interstate 95. For more information on how to get to the range please contact one of the club officers listed below or just click here.
